Waiting for slots

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I%26#39;ve never been to Vegas before! I have read that some of the more popular slots, like Wizard of Oz, are really busy and it can be hard to get a machine right away, so you often have to wait. Do you just stand behind the person that%26#39;s on the machine and hang out until they are done (which I imagine might annoy them)? Or put a coin down or something to show you want to play next? Or do people not really wait and just grab a free machine if you are lucky enough to see someone coming off of one? Thanks!

Waiting for slots

I don%26#39;t like to hover over or around someone playing the machine I want,so I just find someething else, and check back later. Sometimes you find another fun one in the process. But, no, there isn%26#39;t an understanding that you can put a coin down (like people do at pool tables). There is a lucky Lucky Lemings machine I like in Flamingo, only one. It is in a bank of machines with Village People Party, Jackpot Party, and All that Glitters. Sometimes I just play one nearby to see if they leave, and then switch machines. I try not to be too obvious about it, because it would bug me if someone was hovering around hoping I would leave.

Waiting for slots

slot players do find people stalking ';their'; machine annoying...also many will play for hours so you could be in for a long wait...there is no way to show you want to play next like a pool game..if you play at say 4:00 am your chances of getting an Oz machine is a lot better than say 9:00 pm..

Any truth to the rumor that the new casino at Wynn%26#39;s Encore will have slot Maitre d%26#39;s who will take reservatons for the more popular games??? :%26gt;)

And yes, the $20 Trick just might not be enough for the Wiz slots!

I also play nearby while waiting for a fave to open up. I also head to the casino earlier in the day. There is a lot less competition before noon for slots and you can get drinks a lot easier, too.

I%26#39;ve seen people play a nearby slot machine killing time until the one they want opens up.

I%26#39;ve seen people hover, but they generally don%26#39;t encroach on a players personal space.

I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll have any problems going to the busy slots and sizing up the queue at first glance. Let everyone milling around before you get first shot as machines become open.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I think I%26#39;ll probably be doing most of my gambling at non-peak hours anyways, so hopefully I won%26#39;t have too much trouble! I get in on Christmas day, I wonder if that day in particular will be slower in the casinos? I heard the restaurants, in particular the buffets, and the shows as well can be busy, but I wasn%26#39;t sure about the casinos themselves? So maybe I can find a fun slot pretty easily that day too?

';Slot Lurker'; hate it but also have been it too, and I have also seen people get into a fight over a machine. I%26#39;ve had people slide their fat arses into one I%26#39;ve been waiting for before them. It can get ridiculous and annoying. I try not to be an obvious lurker. Another one is the one where they play 2 machines for the whole weekend, this happened to me a couple of months ago Wizard of Oz 2 machines on each side, this woman played the 2 machine bank I swear 24/7 for the whole weekend with her foot up on the other chair. I could have complained but decided wasn%26#39;t into the fight scene that weekend. I did at one point sit at the other 2 bank and she got 3 W2G%26#39;s within 2 hours on those 5 cent Wizard of Oz. The next month when I went I also won for 1200 but ended up losing it over the weekend and alot of it back on the OZ!!!

I swear Ive had rude people slide in on top of me when I was leaving and only half-way out of the slot chair! Ive had a mind to swing back in and bump them onto the floor! lol I mean REALLY, now!!!

Lurkers who stand behind Me.. dont even think about it! I will politely, turn around after a few minutes and tell them ..';I%26#39;d prefer You move along, I dont like people watching my slot play.';

What I would really rather say is... Stop that burning eyeball into my back! Go plug a quarter into your entertainment (slot) and leave mine alone! lol

four zillion slot machines in Vegas, and people are hovering over others to get one??

Yep, they sure do. I can%26#39;t express how obnoxious lurking is and if the person is that annoying, I won%26#39;t give up the slot. I hate it when my space is violated. The really popular slots are going to be in almost every casino - it doesn%26#39;t make sense to be a PITA.
