The few days over New Year%26#39;s are the most expensive of the year in Vegas and is the one time when you%26#39;ve no chance of finding any kind of deal.

If you can delay your trip slightly, the first few days of January is a much better bet.

I disagree. I just booked a 5 night stay at Caesar%26#39;s for December 31-Jan 5 for a total of $768 for 5 nights, of those 5 are New Year%26#39;s Eve, and a Friday and Saturday night stay. I have a Harrah%26#39;s card and have only played a few hours over the last 5 years and they keep sending me promos in the mail. But other hotels have decent rates too, I just checked earlier today and Venetian was $219 every night that week, a little high but considering it%26#39;s NYE that%26#39;s a good price for a nice hotel and it%26#39;s more like a suite than just a room.

When checking airfare online I have a little trick. All of the search engines out there, expedia, yahoo, orbitz, etc only show the big major airlines. If you want rates from Southwest or any other local airlines near you go to their sites directly. Southwest is running a special right now if you book through their vacation packages you get $25 off a night. Just do some hunting and you can find something, it%26#39;s not totally out of reach.

I guess it comes down to what you consider to be a deal. New Year%26#39;s doesn%26#39;t seem as expensive as it has been in recent years probably as a result of the economy, but it%26#39;s still a lot pricier than the dates that follow a few days later.

Also keep in mind that Vegas is going to be very, very crowded over the NYE time period, think can of sardines on NYE itself.

I agree with Blagger. you will find mant stay 2 get one free and rates a low as $59 for mid range Harrah%26#39;s and MGM/Mirage, but NYE and NY day will jump the price a lot.

Yes you can find some airline deal on the ';redeye'; or change planes a couple of times, but time is money.

If you have not signed up for the hotels email specials do so. Will not help on the holiday rates. You chose the time that next to times square, Vegas is the NYE party place. But trying to make the best of days off is what we all want.

We fly from Houston to Dallas to Vegas some times and get a better rate on Continental, but itnow runs $626 RT. Southwest would be a second option.

From Dallas, try USAirways Vacations. We fly out of DFW and always find this our cheapest way but like others said, you have picked out an expensive time anyway.
