Just got back from weeklong stay at Binions

I%26#39;ll post my thoughts in a reply. All questions welcome!

Just got back from weeklong stay at Binions

Trip was November 10-15 Stayed in room 1205 of the Mint Tower. The price was amazing. Travelled with my wife and we booked 5 nights on Travelocity for 95 dollars. When checking in the front desk asked what kind of room we%26#39;d like and we asked politely responded that we%26#39;d appreciate a remodeled room or any room she thought was best. We were given a room in the mint tower room 1205. It faced away from the lights of Fremont but still had a nice view of Lady Luck and the mountains beyond. When we got to the room we noticed that the carpeting was new and still quite plush and the bathroom had been remodeled with new tile, sink, and tub/shower liner. The bed was really nice, couldn%26#39;t tell if it were new or not, didn%26#39;t seem old though. The TV was 27 inches and while it wasn%26#39;t a flat screen Hi Def, it was much bigger than I anticipated definitely an upgrade to other TVs i%26#39;ve heard they have at Binions. There were some minor water stains on the ceiling but weren%26#39;t too obvious. We were also next to the ice machine and elevator which made some noise but not too much that it annoyed us. Overall I would give the room a 4 out of 5.

The casino itself is undergoing some major renovations as well, while we were there they were just opening up the new poker room which had two bars outside of it with about 10 stools each and 5 high definition TVs above the bar. They%26#39;ve also brought back a new Million Dollar display which we got a free photo with when we signed up for a players card. After we got our picture taken with it we were handed a sheet of coupons which had a 2 for 1 at the coffee shop, drinks, and a 10 dollar match play!

The sports book looks new as well, might be the best one I saw Downtown, I think it was about 4 rows of desks and chairs with dividers facing the betting desk. Above the betting desk were 8 large high definition TVs and digital displays with all the odds. Next to the sportsbook was a cigar bar/ sports bar called Benny%26#39;s Bullpen. I%26#39;m not sure if this is new or not but it looks very impressive with two blackjack tables in the back with a long bar and nice leather bar stools. Also in the bar were leather arm chairs around coffe tables.

As for the food: they still have the snack bars which serve their purpose, the coffee shop downstairs, and the steakhouse with the view. We tried them all and enjoyed all our meals, especially the omelettes at the coffee shop and the chicken fried lobster at the steakhouse. I should also mention that we used our LVA coupons at the steakhouse and deli/snackbar with no problem. We didn%26#39;t get a chance to use the chicken and ribs.

Overall I could see that Binions is in a state of transition right now in the right direction, a lot of money has been spent here, you can just tell by entering some of the common area bathrooms as well which have been redone with new Dyson hand dryers (very cool!!!!) and fancy sinks. I would recommend this hotel and casino to anyone looking for a good place to stay downtown. It looks like they are trying to attract new customers at a good price, so why not take them up on it?

Gambling: We gambled quite a bit at Binions played mostly craps. During the week they had 3 dollar minimums with 10X odds. There were 5 craps tables although the most we ever saw open was 4. Thursday and Friday though they bumped it up to 5 dollars. They blackjack tables had 5 dollar minimums. There was also some nice eye candy, they now have hot cowgirl dealers at about half of the tables. I was impressed with the amount of blackjack tables, more than in other casinos we went to.

Thanks very much Mark for posting this. I will be in Vegas next month and want to stay at Binions but I had some reservations about it but you have definately changed my mind. I will be booking my first night at Binions.

Well done!

Thanks for the report! I am very excited to see all the changes at Binions after reading your report!

Mark.........

Thanks for your trip report with up-to-date information related to Binion%26#39;s. I stayed there a couple of months ago and was very satisfied with the room, and also plan to stay there again in January or February.

Good to hear Binions made some changes in the Casino and craps is almost as cheap as it used to be.

Is the Million Dollar display the ';old one'; they used to have or some new one?

I cant imagine them being able to get any ';new'; $10,000 bills but maybe they did. I%26#39;d like to see a pic of it.

The million dollar display is a new one. They couldn%26#39;t get back the old 10,000 dollar bills because they were too expensive. I think i heard it would cost about 16 million dollars to get all those bills back. The new one is much larger from what I hear and is in a pyramid shape. All the outside bills are 100s and the inside ones are smaller denominations to fill it out. Pretty cool to look at up close. The photos are ready to be picked up in about a half an hour.

Nice detailed report Markhee, thanks very much. :)

Thanks for info on the Million Dollar display.

But ';pyramid shaped?'; Where did they think the display was going, Luxor?

And whats up with 100s and SMALLER bills?

Just cant beat the ';good ol%26#39; days';.

Step pyramid shaped:) Not like Luxor.
