The Ongoing Wynn/Palazzo/Bellagio Debate

After spending time on these forums and reading various LV travel blogs, I have noticed something. The Wynn, The Palazzo, and The Bellagio are all attempting to attract the same clients, and they are in stiff competition with each other.

They all do not have much of a theme beyond elegance, they all have spectacular dining, they are all massive, they all cost ridiculous amounts of money to build, and they are all some of the more expensive accommodations on the Strip.

And that is why there is not a general consensus on which one is ';the best.';

When one stays at these properties, he/she seems to gain quite sense of loyalty to one of these properties. I stayed at the Palazzo last summer and fell in love. As some of you may know, I always recommend the Palazzo to others. I love the openness of the entire property, especially the casino, I love the huge rooms, I love the amazing shopping, I love the great food, I love the Player%26#39;s Club, and most of all, I love the location.

I find the Wynn to be a bit ';dark.'; Some find it beautiful, but I just don%26#39;t like the dark/ornate feel of the place. Those who like the Wynn say the Palazzo is ';cheap looking.'; Those who like the Bellagio say that it has the best location on the strip.

So, I decided to create this thread to address these issues. I know that we will never find a ';winner,'; but we can post our opinions. If you like any of these properties, say why you do. Better yet, if you have stayed at all three, compare them.

PS - please, not sarcastic remarks like ';why would you pay so much $ for a hotel'; or ';your thread is useless.'; If you something valuable to say, say it. If you don%26#39;t, don%26#39;t. And I realized that this has been discussed before, but I figured a central place was needed to discuss one of the more common questions on this board.

The Ongoing Wynn/Palazzo/Bellagio Debate

I%26#39;ve stayed at all three. I was loyal to Bellagio for the longest time - it still makes me happy when I go in there. I love the fountains, the location.

Then we got an offer to stay at Palazzo and we really loved the larger rooms, and there%26#39;s a lot of great dining up there, too. Also stayed at Venetian and wouldn%26#39;t turn either down :)

I%26#39;ve also stayed at Wynn and it%26#39;s my least favorite of the three. Not saying it%26#39;s not a fine hotel, but it just doesn%26#39;t appeal to me visually. I didn%26#39;t find the rooms attractive at all, even though they had all the bells and whistles. Besides our one stay there, we%26#39;ve also visited on several other occasions and every time we go we have the same feeling - not for us.

And that%26#39;s what it really is - a feeling. Just like falling in love. No one can say why you like one person over another. You just do. Even though the ';other'; one might be smarter, richer, handsomer, funnier - you love the one you love.

The Ongoing Wynn/Palazzo/Bellagio Debate

Warmwinds - you are right. I love your analogy! I just thought it would be interesting to hear why people ';love'; specific properties.

I agree with you about the Wynn. I think it just has something to do with my tastes in decor. I go more for a classy yet modern/less is more look. Not to say that the Wynn isn%26#39;t classy, it is just more traditional and rich. Very dark tones.

The Palazzo is my favorite, or rather one of my two favorites on the strip. Personally I like it mostly because of the hotel room and the great service I%26#39;ve received there. In some ways, I like the simple and understated casual luxury design of the public areas. For a northern strip property, I think it has the best location with its connection to Venetian and a skybridge across to TI, Fashion Show, and Wynn.

I love the rooms at Palazzo and the casino of the Wynn. I like the Wynn a LOT but the rooms, I don%26#39;t think i%26#39;d like. Never stayed there but gambled there a lot. I love their casino and for some reason it%26#39;s always the only one I ever win large amounts of money in.

Palazzos casino is just themeless and bland. Wayyy to bland for my tastes.

Bellagio...haha. The only thing I like there is the conservatory and even that%26#39;s usually only fun once. I feel like I%26#39;m always underdressed when I go to Bellagio.

Way to many rich people in there for my tastes.

But if I had to vote, it%26#39;d be for the Palazzo, just for their bitchin rooms.

(I really like the trashier hotels on the strip the best. There%26#39;s way more unscheduled/unapproved entertainment in those hotels, they have WAY more personality and they%26#39;re just fun. I love crappy.)

They showed a few pictures of the Encore. It looks to be decorated more towards the contemporary look.

Yes, I%26#39;ve seen those pictures and I think the Encore looks really nice.

This trip we%26#39;re staying at THEHotel for the first time - can%26#39;t wait. I think the rooms look very sleek and sexy but still warm. I hate minimalist cold.

I do not think this would be a ';debate';. These are all fine properties, and loyalty usually is the determining factor, as you state. I have been staying at Wynn since it opened and nowhere else. I am very comfortable there with my host and really like the casino.Rating one better than the other would be purely personal taste.

Perhaps ';debate'; was not the correct word. I just wanted to hear people%26#39;s thoughts...

Any such comparisons should be tempered by knowing whether or not the poster has actually stayed at the property (s) that they are commenting on. There are way too many views expressed from people who walked through a place and feel like they know it in total. They are of course free to give an opinion, but IMO it%26#39;s not worth much. Then we get people like Warmwinds who bring a total first hand perspective to bear. I much prefer Wynn, I have stayed there many, many times but... I stay in the Tower Suites and, as such, I can%26#39;t fully comment on comparing regular Wynn rooms to other places. Everyone has an opinion but it is important to discern what that opinion is really based on.

Interesting to hear others first hand thoughts. I must first say my favorite hotel on the strip is The Four Seasons. The setting, decor and the service are better than any.

OK that said, of the 3 mentioned, and I have stayed at all, Wynn has become my favorite. I have stayed on the hotel side, Villas, and the Tower Suites, which I perfer. I like the decor, not love, but I am not buying the place just staying so that is not so important. What is important to me is quality of service and dining options.

The service at Wynn is the closest I have found to the Four Seasons anywhere. Staff is welcoming and helpful. They have the perfect blend of friendly and formal.

Service at Bellagio and Palazzo has never been as good.

I find I like the dining options at Wynn far better. It is the place we go to eat often, even when not staying there.
