We%26#39;ll be arriving in Las Vegas on 9/22 and will need a car until 9/29. Where did you find the best deals? Were you happy with the car and service?
We%26#39;ll be driving up to Utah and then returning to spend 5 days in Las Vegas without the car.
Which car rental?
No one has any good deals right now for any dates that I%26#39;ve seen. In the last couple of weeks the cost of renting a car has almost doubled. Fortunately I had booked a car for September just before the hike. I%26#39;m paying $11.00 per day through Payless which I have found to have the best rates now they are $22 per day and everyone else is that and more. I don%26#39;t know if this a temporary thing but I won%26#39;t be renting again at those prices. Of course you can always book and if you find a better rate later on you can cancel and rebook. This isn%26#39;t true of third party vendors though like Travelocity or Expedia as there is a penalty for cancelling and rebooking at least there was.
Which car rental?
Everybody has their own personal favorite. We use Dollar whenever we go to LV and have always gotten good deals with them. Try:

Thanks - will give a call.
Hi,
I%26#39;m renting a car from 9/4 to 9/11. I got a decent deal thru Alamo, following a TA advice under topic ';cheap car rental'; (you should have a look).
1 - I used the 25$ rebate for a weekly rental (the coupon ID is on their website).
2 - I also used contract #7014163 to get an additional 10% discount and triple NW Worldperks miles.
But the last contributor under the above named topic gave another contract # that would allowed me 15% instead of 10%, but that was if I used an American Express card and I couldn%26#39;t find the promotion nowhere to make sure I would be eligible, not being a US citizen. So I went for a safer choice with the Northwest contract # and offer.
Final price, all fees and taxes incl. : 176,37$ CND (probably about the same in US $).
I have used mostly Dollar and Thrifty- over 60 times- and I have been satisfied with both.
We always use Alamo, get a good deal on their website plus they are dependable. Watch out for the cheaps ones they usually have some kind of scam to get money out of you, check it out on TA you%26#39;ll see how some people got rip off by them.
I use Thrifty, mostly. I%26#39;m a Blue Chip member (their free Renter%26#39;s Program) and it is very hassle free.
I also noticed that prices have jumped recently. I have my car for Aug 5 - 8 for $23 a day (Charger) and have been checking for a drop in rates every couple of days. Once day last week I saw a rate that was a dollar less per day. Next day, it JUMPED to over $36 per day for the same car, same dates.
If you don%26#39;t care who you rent from, you might try Hotwire or Priceline to ';name your price'; for your car rental. I did it last trip and got a good rate (vs. renting from my usual Thrifty), HOWEVER, the hassle level was quite a bit higher (waiting in line, etc.).

I booked a car through Dollar 2 nights ago and got a compact for $10.87/day. This was for our trip in November.

Southwest airlines has the best web site I have found for comparing car rental prices, www.southwest.com.
You might need to notify the rental company that you are taking the car out of state. Some rentals are for in state only, so I am not sure what you have to do if you are leaving the state.
