Arrived Sunday afternoon and was greeted at the venetian doors by the worst smell from a casino that I have ever experienced.
We have not once gambled or eaten here because of this smell.
It%26#39;s like a mixture of incense/joss sticks and cheap heady perfume and to me its choking.
Only 2 more days then we more to the Wynn but its that bad I feel like packing up now (only its paid for lol) and heading to Bills or MGM.
Anyway off out now for food and fresh air
At Venetian Now
I stayed at the Venetian during the cigar convention so maybe that%26#39;s why I didn%26#39;t smell it :)
Honestly, the only one I ever noticed was MGM because I was ';looking'; for it (olfactorily ogling for it?) and it was just when you first walked in, I don%26#39;t recall it everywhere.
At Venetian Now
Had never noticed the odor until this past trip earlier this month. So strong I could taste it! Like cheap perfume on someone near you in a closed in space like church or an elevator.
Hours upon hours over the years in the place and never found it to be anything but pleasant.
I know everyone has different sensitivities, but I think the Venetian smell has been highly exaggerated in its intensitiy.
I%26#39;ve always found it to have an ';old ladies perfume'; smell! Didn%26#39;t notice it at Palazzo in June though.
I think the odor is too strong, so maybe my smeller is more sensitive than others here on the forum.
I think that the strength of the odor depends upon which area the casino you are in - the area(s) closest to the main entrance have a more in-your-face scent. To to OP: If it bothers you that much, see if you can switch over to the Palazzo (different scent, but not as bold of a scent). You should also mention your displeasure about the casino scent to management/operations staff. I%26#39;ve heard enough complaints about the scent, but not a lot of peeps mentioned that they gave the casino/hotel feedback.
MGM floral scent can knock you for a punch too, so the grass is not always greener ;-)
Have a beautiful (scented) day :-D
I can%26#39;t stand the scent at the Venetian but my husband can%26#39;t smell it at all. We stayed there last year and there was no smell in the rooms. We stayed at the Palazzo this year and there was no smell in the rooms or in the casino.
I think I just get used to a smell. Did you ever go to Savannah, Georgia? Beautiful city, but the first thing you notice is a horrible burned sugar smell from the mills. We were there several days, and after the first day didn%26#39;t smell it again. Went to Charleston, came back to Savannah, and right away noticed the burned smell again. So I think we just got used to it.
If something bothers you so much that you post about here, refuse to gamble or dine in The V (the odor is not in the restuarants) why stay? No reason to be uncomfortable to the point of being miserable, which you apparently are. MOVE. quite easy, plenty of hotel rooms in LV. Check out early and don%26#39;t pay for the nights you aren%26#39;t a guest.
I think this time I am going to have to agree with Bridge. When you leave the V...tell them!!
If more people complain about the smell they are piping in, they just MAY change it, or the very least tone it down.
