Trip Report- Nov. 9th-13th- Every Casino on the Strip...Wow I thought I could be the only one waiting!!! But I am not!! Where is the TR??
Oh wow, every casino on the Strip in 5 days! Cant wait for your TR!
So we tried something new for our 3rd trip to LV this year... Fly Allegiant air. So we took the 1 1/2 hour drive to Rochester, Minnesota to catch the plane and a pretty awesome seat sale. The flight was painless sort of. First the runway work in LV delayed all flights throughout the country so we left 1 hour late. Then we sat with a baby infront of us and he was good but did what babies do as we arrived in LV... and boy did it stink.
Arrived in Vegas got the luggage in no time and very little line-up in for a cab and boom we arrive at NYNY... We get in the invited guest check-in around 4ish. Check-in was interesting. The Front Desk agent really pushed us a free upgrade.(on top of the upgrade we already had free) I told him nothing below the Roller Coaster and must be non-smoking. He assured me that we were above the Roller Coaster and that the Roller Coaster was not working right now anyways due to weather.(I made a point to tell him that the Roller Coaster will not be shutdown all week, so we had better be above it.)
We arrive in our room. Broadway delux... It might be a couple feet bigger than other rooms but they are in need of upgrading bigtime. Plus the Roller Coaster is working and it is right outside our window. The room smells bad and I am not happy and my wife is really pissed off. I call down and ask for a different room. I was offered a suite for an extra $100 a night or stick with the room we have. NOT COOL. I would have stayed at The Wynn for that kind of money.
So while I am on the phone with the Front Desk. I get my wife to call TI and see what they can do. They offer us the same rate at NYNY. So we are in a cab to TI right away.
We arrive at TI. Invited Guest Check-in is awesome. Stephanie gives us an upgrade to a strip-view room on the 26th floor. Very Nice room. Complete Remodel. Great View looking south straight down the strip. We call for some towels have a drink and get ready to attack Downtown. The Towels don%26#39;t arrive. WE stop by the front desk to ask about towels. Jay at the Front Desk is very helpful. Makes a call for us and we have towels upon our return. We learned later that the Laundry at TI and most MGM properties is contracted out and has been really poor in service lately. WE find this out throughout our trip.
We take the Deuce downtown. We had the Evil Busdriver(more on this) I am starving. So we head to the best deal in town... Shrimp Cocktail at the Golden Gate. We wait in line for about 10mins get a sandwich and a couple of Shrimp Cocktails. It was amazing but I would have eaten the Carpet of the Golden Gate if I didn%26#39;t think I would catch the Plague. We then hopped casino to casino stopping to play Wizard of OZ at the Freemont and Happy Days at the Four Queens. I lost, my wife won... This is a trend... We had poor cocktail service at Freemont but at the Four Queen was great. It was and I quote ';like drinking out of a firehose'; We are pretty good tippers so we do get some service but this was amazing.
After being overserved and tired it was time for a bus ride home. Lots of Cowboys in town for the Bullriders Finals. So lots of wanna be ';Larry the Cable Guys'; on the bus. Got some good laughs but also a few ugly jokes. We get back to TI just as people are pilling into the hotel from all the delayed flights. Lots of pissed off people. People are telling me of 5 hour delays... Thank Goodness for getting there early. End of Day One...
evil bus driver? LOL
Evil bus driver....a la Stephen King? LOL
I am happy for you that TI was able to accomodate your move from NYNY...looking forward to the rest of your report =)
waiting for the rest ...
Can%26#39;t wait to read the rest and all about the evil bus driver, LOL
So far I only count 2 strip casinos, there must be more to come...? :)
Day Two-
We start the day around 7am. I love Vegas is the AM. No one on the streets. No one on the Buses. It is just very cool. We start our walk down the stip stopping at the Mirage for a couple minutes. No available Wizard of Oz Machines but even worse than that we have not found our Holy Grail of Slots... Top Gun. WE decide that it is time for our favorite Breakfast in Vegas.... FATBURGER. So we hop on the bus and we are at burger heaven in a few minutes.
We then walk down to MGM(For a place that once had a Wizard of Oz theme only 4 Wizard of Oz machines.) Nothing much doing at MGM. WE cross the walking Bridge to the Trop. My god someone needs to light a match to that place. I kept telling my wife that is the hotel I want to buy and blow it up. It is a big chunck of property. We play briefly at the Trop(Drinks are good and they bring me Vodka RedBull in a big glass) before we cross the strip and play at the Excaliber(Where the drinks come in a large shot glass and suck because they have terrible energy drink. Start Drinking BEER it is 10am)
We take the tram to Mandalay Bay which looks to be a ghoast town at this point. They even had $5 Blackjack and $5 craps. I have never seen this at MB in all the times I have been to Vegas. We walk around MB for a while but find nothing interesting to play so we walk to Luxor. I find a Dean Martin ';wild party'; machine with a really comfy chair so it is chill time. We play for about an hour. The drink service sucked but the chair was perfect so I stayed.
We took the tram back to the corner and crossed over to NYNY. We had a really bad vibe going into NYNY. It was like running into your old girlfriend who you just broke up with and really we just broke up with it yesterday. We didn%26#39;t stay long. But the Monte Carlo is right next door and welcome to our Holy Grail. WE finally find a Top Gun machine. At this point you could have forwarded our mail to the Monte Carlo. We played for a long time. The drink serive was amazing. There was really no reason to leave except we had show tickets we needed to pickup plus we needed to get ready for the show.
We take the deuce back to the Wynn and pick up our tickets and make reservation for later on in our trip.
We have a quick nap and shower. It is now dinner time. We decide to cross over to the Venetian and the Palazo. After walking around we decide on the Grand Lux Cafe at Palazo. The service was not great but the server recomended that we split an sandwich and an appatizer. And we were stuffed. The prices were good. My wife has a Strawberry Martini and we have a bet it will be more expensive than our meal... I win... It was. $14.00. I am not complaining. It is Vegas
We go to the Wynn to see Le Reve. Got a deal on Travelzoo for tickets. I picked them out with the phone agent so I would have more leg room and be in the perfect spot. She was spot on. We had the best seats. I really love that they do seating in the Round. So there is not a bad seat in the house. The show was really enjoyable. the seats were great. The only negative was that the people in the row infront of use were trying to film the show. The usher spent 5 minutes watching them like a hawk before they gave up trying to film it.
After the show we go back to TI and change. We are going North on the strip and decide to get cashual. We hop the bus to the Sahara and the Strat. We gave them the token walk through. Then went to the Riviera and Circus Circus. My god CC is just plain ugly. I was embarrased to see children running around in there at 11pm. We decide to go to Slots O%26#39;Fun. My wife wants to play craps or blackjack and wants to do it in a fun spot. Well there is not a more fun spot to play than Slots O%26#39;Fun but the tables are jamed full. we talk to some employees and they tell us they have laid-off a big chunk of their dealers and there will be no more tables open. We decide to play Star Wars instead. My wife does not know SOF is a coin joint and hits the cashout to change machines. $20 in nickels later... Bad move but Alcohol was a factor.
Then we get to the hot dog incident.
I want the .99C hot dog. Which is now $1.99 but who cares it is Vegas. My wife who does not eat Beef or Pork or hot dogs for that matter decides she wants one too. So after checking twice to make sure we go out to the strip to eat the dogs. Lets just say there is crying, puking and general sadness about the hot dog. I can%26#39;t stop laughing because I knew it was the alcohol talking when she ordered the Hot Dog. I feel bad.
And So ends our night....17 Casinos in 24 hours...
