What I learned on my last trip....

1.) Casinos (at least NYNY) consider $50 bills bad luck in the casino and therefore do not have them. I know this about 50 cent pieces, but they still have those...

2.) Some casinos allow you to cash a personal check instead of paying the costly fees at a cash machine (or run the risk of the machine malfunctioning).

3.) Check with the players club regardless of what kind of player you are...in the world of whales and such, we are pretty much plankton....and still got some food and beverage comped off.

4.) The Deuce bus is a good alternative if you are looking for something more cost effective than a taxi ($5 for a 24 hour pass versus $50 round triop cab ride from the strip to downtown), you are not in a hurry and no one throws up on the bus (yes, this horrible thing happened, not to me, but on the same bus as me and we had to all get off the bus way down by the Stratosphere to catch another)...I am NOT a good bus traveler to begin with...

5.) The Golden Gate has decent shrimp cocktail $4.99 and prime rib $7.99 for being a small place...and cheap! It is no Gallaghers but still good

6.) Share your entrees...not to be cheap at all, but to avoid being over full - most portions are really big. We did this and got to stop off more places for appetizers and we were not wasting food or spending more than we could eat.

Anyone.....?

What I learned on my last trip....

Anytime anyone walks up to a blackjack table and puts down a stack of $50 bills that is my cue to get up and leave the table. It is very badluck for everyone at the table.

What I learned on my last trip....

I don%26#39;t believe in luck I believe in numbers. Money is money no matter what denomination.

$50s have been bad luck for a long time all over gambling world. I%26#39;ve carried it over to my personal life and get rid of them as soon as possible. Not that I usually have anything higher than a $10 on me for most days....

Why is a $50 bill considered bad luck? I%26#39;ve always wanted to know that.

I know the #4 is bad luck in Chinese beliefs, that%26#39;s why a lot of newer hotels don%26#39;t have a 4th, 14th, or any 40%26#39;s floors. (Damn Chinese investors/gamblers)

And 13 is unlucky for obvious reasons, it%26#39;s always been an unlucky number.

Numbers are numbers, what%26#39;s the difference. It%26#39;s not really important compared to other superstitions like talking sweetly to slot machines is it?

What I learned from my last trip?

- You can have a lot of fun off strip - the shuttle ride is much better than I expected

- M%26amp;G%26#39;s with people off TA can be a lot of fun, and provide support for your Vegas addiction

- Finding a VP machine with a good pay table is getting harder and harder all the time

If somebody splits 10%26#39;s at my table I leave. I could care less with what denomination of currency they used to get their chips. 50%26#39;s, 10%26#39;s, 20%26#39;s whatever. Just don%26#39;t split 10%26#39;s.

Oh, and that 99 cent shrimp cocktail at Golden Gate is absolutely the best drunk food you can get.

I learned on my last trip is not to order your daughter Perfect Margaritas and then have her walk back from Margaritaville to Ballys with a balloon-made male organ on her head. LMAO

I too would like to know why a $50 bill is considered unlucky. When I bought US cash for my last trip, the bank was short on $100 bills so got quite a few $50%26#39;s, didn%26#39;t affect my luck at all (see my last TR), however I did get sick, hmmmm....

Harlemgirl, that%26#39;s too funny! My first chuckle of the day as I nurse this God-awful cold and dream of Vegas warmth and fun.

LOL harlemgirl, too funny!

I find $50 bills to be lucky for me, at least on slot machines. Each time I%26#39;ve won a lot of money, I started with a $50 bill. I know the casinos don%26#39;t give out $50%26#39;s so I%26#39;m getting several at home before leaving for Vegas! if it ain%26#39;t broke.....that%26#39;s my motto!
