TR 11/17-11/20 Mgm grand

Day 1

We arived in Vegas on Monday at 1:20 pm and the weather was beautiful and the temp was perfect! We got off the plane and went to the taxi line at the airport. Line wasn%26#39;t long at all we waited maybe 5 mins for a taxi and told him to take us to MGM Grand. I was weary of mentioning no tunnel in hopes we would not get screwed so I didn%26#39;t BUT the taxi driver did. He said oh with the traffic he didn%26#39;t know how bad it would be and suggested the tunnel to be quicker..luckily I am no fool and have watched the travel channel and lurked on TA long enough to know this was not a good idea...I then told him NO TUNNEL and let it be known this wasn%26#39;t my first trip to vegas. He was nice and said ok. Arrived at MGM with a 9.50 taxi ride...not too bad! Went to front desk and checked in..I wasn%26#39;t going to try the 20 dollar trick since I needed 2 rooms..one for my sister and one for my husband and myself. Requested 2 strip view rooms right next to each other, King size beds. The guy said the closest he had was 15th floor in 2 different wings I then said it didn%26#39;t matter if they were strip view and he still said this was the closest. This hotel has 5000 rooms and you can%26#39;t find 2 rooms with king size beds next door or a few rooms apart from each other??? He then suggested a suite with 2 bedrooms for $125 more a night....we declined and accepted the 15th floor rooms. Got to the rooms and were satisfied..the rooms are nice. Our rooms were the Grand Tower rooms. Kinda sucked though my sisters keys did not work so we called security to let her in the room and from there went downstairs to get good keys. We did some exploring around MGM and were impressed, this place is so big there is really no need to go else where! The lobby smells wonderful! I think it%26#39;s the flowers they have down there. Then we head off to the place I have read alot about here on TA...Margaritaville! Took a taxi over to the Flamingo and ordered the much heard about Volcano Nacho%26#39;s and then ordered some quesadillas and 3 margaritas. My margarita was STRONG I could barely drink it..the name was the Perfect margarita I believe....it is tequila with a splash of lime or so it tasted....definelty not for the light weights! My husband and sister ordered 2 strawberry ritas...so weak...tasted like a virgin rita. Got the food and was not impressed at all! The nachos are definetly huge but the quality was not good at all...same for the quesadillas...they were the worst I had ever tasted and I am by no means picky or high dollar...if you want quantity this is is your place...quality you def need to go elsewhere...my bill with tip was about $70...not worth it at all! We then do some sight seeing....we walked all the way from the Flamingo to Luxor stopping in some of the casinos..and then back to MGM....as most of you know this is not a short walk! By the time we got back to the room we were so tired and our feet were killing us we crashed for the night...it was about midnight.

So far so good. Just got back home Wednesday. Was there from Friday to Tuesday night. Daughter%26#39;s birthday was on the 17th. We went to Margaritaville on Saturday and had those Perfect Margaritas. Delish.

Day 2

I am awakened to my husband siting on the bench putting his shoes on at 6:00 am 8:00 am Houston time. I asked where he was going and he said he didn%26#39;t want to wake me and was heading down stairs to play some slots. I turned over and went back to bed....20 mins later he is back with no winnings...I then wake up and give the sis a courtesy call to get her butt up and get dressed! We leave MGM about 8:30 and catch a taxi over to Denny%26#39;s by the Venetian..we get there and get seated rather quickly despite the many people in the waiting area to be seated. Breakfast was good and cheap...the taxi driver who drove us was telling us why Denny%26#39;s? Try a buffet! I told him Denny%26#39;s because I know it%26#39;s good and reasonable...sorry people but after Margaritaville had lost faith in some of what I have been reading on here! LOL From there we do some walking...actually alot of walking...and just explored the strip! Got a pretty ceramic drink holder of the balloon at Paris with a Strawberry rita for 14.95..the guy hooked it up with the tequila and was super strong and yummy! We had wanted to do the monorail but just never did..we also saw alot of those Deuce buses running but never saw a place to buy the tickets so we just walked every where and once in a while when we felt we couldn%26#39;t walk anymore took a taxi.....at night we went to Grand Lux in Venetian to eat and were impressed we enjoyed the food HUGE portions. I got the Chicken, sundried tomatoes, and mushroom pasta and my sis and husband both got the fried chicken...really just chicken tenders but it was good. Had alot of leftovers which we felt awful just throwing away because it was more than half our plates. My husband still said he wasn%26#39;t too impressed and said the waitress should have told us the portions were that big so we could have shared...told him that was def not gonna happen...no where does that! LOL Oh we also go the Buffalo chicken eggrolls as appetizer..those were awesome!! I loved those! We then went to Tresure Island to see Mystere..it was so wonderful! Great show worth the money! Also FYI...our seats were the cheaper seats and they were still great seats...there are no bad seats in that theater for real! We then head back to MGM and hit the beds at about midnight.

I really want to read your TR but would you mind some paragraphs in the next part?

would love to hear more about mgm itself, thinking about staying there

Day 3

Wake up and are on the go at about 9:00 am play some slots at MGM..win some lose some and head off to Ellis Island for the steak special I have heard so much about on TA. Taxi gets us there and tells us the deal is awesome and alot of taxi drivers go there because they get the special for a dollar cheaper than we do...as we get there I kinda questioned how we would get a taxi back but the driver reassured us there are so many taxi drivers there eating I will have no problems...oookkkk. We get out and go in for breakfast/lunch...I go the fish and chips for 8.99, my sis gets the bacon hamburger for 6.99 I think and my husband decided to get the NY strip breakfast special for 4.99...all the food was good....big portions and the food was good. I think the husband go the best deal though! So we leave and try to find a taxi out and of course no taxi%26#39;s to be found...I guess we are gonna have to suck it up and do some more walking...Ellis island isn%26#39;t that close to be walking..I think Bally%26#39;s was the closest but even the guy at the MGM putting us in the cab told us it%26#39;s better to get a taxi back than walking. Luckily we find a taxi in a Stop n go type place on the corner and ask her to give us a ride to the closest place we can get out by the Coke bottle since we were looking for a 1/2 price ticket booth. She drove us to an ally by MGM to get out and we walked up the street a very little and BAM we were at the coke bottle! We got tickets at the 1/2 price ticket booth for George Wallace. I think it was like 74 dollars for main seating per person and then we got coupons for FLavors buffet at Harrahs and decided to eat there for dinner for 16.99 person. Today is the day we discovered the Deuce after many days of blisters and sore feet! Found a place to buy a 5 dollar pass for the Deuce and jumped on the bus....bus was always crowded but not overly crowed and always was able to get on the bus..longest wait for duece was like 10 mins. I recommend the bus hands down!! It stops every few casinos and is cheap! Didn%26#39;t find any flaws in taking this bus..highly recommend this over paying all that money for a taxi! At night we went to Harrahs for the Flavors buffet and we liked it! The food was pretty good they have a little bit of everthing..the desserts were very good! I thought they might be of your Golden Corral taste but I was wrong! The banana pudding was great, cheescake was excellent as well as the carrot cake...oh yeah and the chocolate covered strawberrys! Didn%26#39;t think I would eat all of my desert because I didn%26#39;t think I was gonna like it but I forced myself to get in a good bit because it was delish!!! Off to George Wallace at Flamingo..did some gambling there and ended up losing alot of it...I found the drink service to be good though at Flamingo..those girls were making their rounds frequently! George Wallace was superb! He is a great show and he has performers before him who sing and use their voices as instuments it is outstanding to see them perform! They should have their own show...their name was Mosaic. Bought 2 pics after GW show that they take in there and paid $43 dollars..hey I came out good in them so it was worth it! LOL Played a little more back at MGM but was asked for my ID and had left my purse in my room w ID so I had to leave the casino and by the time I got to my room I just decided to stay up there....no one has ever asked me for my ID! I know the guy was doing his job and I should have been flattered but I was annoyed!LOL I know I should have had my ID anyways but was still mad I had to go upstairs and MGM is big so I was too lazy to come back down! I think it was a sign I needed to stop blowing my money anyways!

Yeah sorry! My first TR!LOL

Paragraphs, shmaragraphs. Just make one big, long run-on sentence! We%26#39;ll figure out where the periods and commas should go...

Seriously, I would like to hear about the MGM, too. I%26#39;m going on the 30th and I%26#39;ve never stayed there. I%26#39;ve left some money to stay there but that%26#39;s about it.

Day we leave :(

We wake up early and decide to go back to Venetian to get some souviners my sister had wanted to buy but didn%26#39;t. Our Deuce pass was still good since we purchased it at 12:30 the day before and it was about 9 am.

We then go across the street to Mirage to catch the Deuce to NYNY so we can look some more in there and can then walk back across the walkway to MGM. We do a little more gambling on the slots and I put in my last gambling $5 and hit $115! Time to cash out!

We pack our bags and head down to check out right at 11..the first elevator down was full so we caught the next one. Went and checked out and caught a cab to the airport for about $10...our trip was over :(

Highlight on Tips:

Take the Deuce and save your feet and money!

Don%26#39;t walk long distances in flip flops! They maybe comfortable walking a little bit but not miles!

Margaritaville is all about quantity and not quality in my opinon.

Take it all in when you are there and enjoy!

What else would you like to know about MGM? The hotel was nice and big....everyone says how huge it is and it is but after a day or two of exploring it doesn%26#39;t seem that big at all. Another plus is there is a walkway from MGM to NYNY. Great deal!

One more thing I forgot to mention I called the concerige to see if I could get complementary Studio 54 passes since I was staying at MGM and they told me flat out NO but could sell me some VIP passes for 40 a person....I can go on ebay and by VIP passes for 4.99 a piece and you want to sell them to me for $40 and I am staying in your hotel/casino dropping money. I thought that was kinda crappy.

What else would I like to know? Nothing, thanks.
