Day Trip - Vegas to LA (Hollywood Sign)

Okay, I%26#39;m sure this has been asked before. But, I did not see it.

We are going to be in Vegas from the 23rd---28th. This will be our 3rd time out.

We have already done a trip to Lake Mead/Hoover Dam.

Now thinking about renting a car to drive to LA and see the HOLLYWOOD Sign and a couple of sites. I know it is atleast a 4-5 hour drive and could be done in one day. My question is do we really need 2 days???? Is there anything else MUST see? We will be flying into LA in February for a cruise to Mexico so we can do some things then. Just really wanted to see the sign this time.

Any past experience/input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks... Can%26#39;t hardly wait - 4 more days. :)

Its a boring long drive with stacks of traffic when you get to LA IMHO its not doable in a day and not worth 2 out of a 5 day trip

Day Trip - Vegas to LA (Hollywood Sign)

Do NOT drive to LA for a day trip, least of all to see the stupid Hollywood sign, ESPECIALLY since you%26#39;re going to be in LA in February!

Take a short half day trip out to Valley of Fire - spectacular.

I agree with the others - it%26#39;s not worth a 10-hour round trip to see the sign. The traffic in the LA area is horrific. I lived in Southern California for over 20 years and I wouldn%26#39;t go back there now unless I absolutely had to.

Don%26#39;t do it. LA is boring.

I can%26#39;t really concur with the ';LA is boring'; thing since I live here, but I definitely don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s worth it to come here for one day. The drive can be horrendous just going one way. You drive a long trek through the desert and then end up fighting through bumper to bumper craziness in the worst part of town to drive in, Hollywood - absolute insanity. I live here and avoid driving in Hollywood at all costs.

Save it for another trip...!

I agree with the other posters. I did the day trip on two separate occasions (for personal business) and it is not something I would do again. The long ride was NOT fun and the traffic in LA was even less fun! Don%26#39;t do it!

If you went to Lake Mead/Hoover Dam I am surprised you didn%26#39;t go to Valley of Fire. You really should go there. The sandstone formations are stunning. It is definitely worth a trip.
