I just paid Alamo $107.32 to rent a car for two weeks.
That works out to $7.69 a day! This is the best deal I%26#39;ve ever gotten for a rental car. Unfortunately, taxes and fees bumped the price by another $76.34.
Here%26#39;s the breakdown:
Base Rate - Economy (USD)
(2) Week Rate ($66.32/week) $132.64
Guaranteed Base Rate Included
Unlimited Miles Included
Subtotal.............................................$132.64
Discounts
Alamo.com Weekly Coupon ($25.00)
Subtotal............................................($25.00)

Customer Facility Chrg 3.00usd/day $42.00
Concession Recovery Fee $11.09
Clark County Rental Fee 2 % $2.37

Totally outrageous! Does any other city rip off tourists more than LV when it comes to rental cars?
71 % Rental Car Tax
Overall though you still got a pretty good deal.
71 % Rental Car Tax
Wow, that%26#39;s about as bad as buying a ticket from ticketmaster.
Sounds about right, I am renting a car for a week in Dec from Enterprise for $46 or so for the week, but with taxes it still comes to $78.
Don%26#39;t rent if you don%26#39;t like the price.
This is what someone coming to Phoenix would pay for fees for 2 weeks
Taxes, Surcharges and Fees
Phx City Ord. G-4530 4.50 Usd/day $63.00
Concession Recoup Fee 11.11 % $32.38
Facility Maintenance Fee .77/day $10.78
Maricopa County Surcharge $12.53
Arizona Surcharge 5 % $19.28
Sales Tax (10.30%) $39.85
Subtotal $177.82
What crazy pricing.
I never rent a car in Vegas, but good to know that the taxes and fees cost more than the base rental fee.
It looks like Phoenix is the top rip off city for car rentals. I%26#39;ll scratch it off my list of places to get some sun this winter.
Well the people who live in these cities vote the goofy politicians in. and its far better to soak the tourist for taxes.
If the locals had any smarts, pelosi and h reid would be gone before we all end up in soup lines.
Shrek is right about Phoenix, and when they were building all their stadiums and arenas they socked that onto the rental car rates, too.
We rented a car end of Oct in Vegas using airmiles and it still cost $155 US for taxes, service fees, blah blah. Last August my DH looked into renting a car to drive from Timmins, Ontario to Sudbury. It would have cost him $200 more than the airfare did for the one-way. It can usually cost $500-$600 return to fly between southern and northern Ontario.
Yes, base rate may be cheap enough but they make up for it in all those extras.
