This is a long post, and probably not interesting to anyone who is not a big video poker fan.
Just returned from 3 days Nov 15-18. Had not been to Vegas for about a year. We go there For the sights , shows, restaurants, and all the usual reasons, but our game of choice has been VP.
The search for full pay video poker has slowly become quite a task and is even harder now. We started at the Gold Coast =, which has always been loaded with full pay VP. It is still there, but not in the abundance as in the past.
There is still 9/6 JOB at the bartop ane on the upper floor by the bingo hall, as well as a few places on the floor by the poker room. 8/5 bonus is there as well.
I saw an unusual variation that was totally new to me..9/6 JOB.....WITH THE ROYAL PAYOUT SET AT $2500
I wonder how many fall into the trap of not noticing the top payout .
My games of choice are 10/7 Double Bonus, and full pay deuces wild ..which are now non existant at gold coast. There arw some nice NSUD machines though.
My other favorite places to play were as follows:
Stratosphere...10/7 DB is either gone, or I could not find it. Did find some NSUD deuces wild , where I did quite well and wone some $$
California... the only place I was able to find 10/7 DB although I had only marginal sucess.
Fitzgeralds. A few full pay macnines in the rear by the check in desk
Main Street Station... Still a decent selection of full pay. The Hotel itself is INHO the most underrated place in town.
Places I did not get to...That usually have great VP....South Point, Palms, and Plaza...Is there anyone out there that can report on the current selections there ???
As usual we had a great time althougs not as sucessful and we would like. And once again look forward to it not being as long before our next visit.
I hope this was helpful to some, and I look forward to input from others as to their best locations for our favorite recreation.
Trip report part 2....The search for good Video Poker
search here for a link to the VPFree forum, I%26#39;m not using my computer with links or I%26#39;d post it.
It%26#39;s usually the most up-to-date info on VP, not perfect of course since things change often, usually quite reliable, especially if someone checks the blogs.
Post your info on the blog if it%26#39;s different than what is listed for the casinos you visited.
I notice you didn%26#39;t get to Palms or Wynn - 2 good casinos for VP, you were at GC, too bad you didn%26#39;t just cross the street - as you noted palms is good - lots of good games and multi- point days and easy points system make this a good play. The info on VPFree for both of these casinos is quite accurate-check that when you look at the info for the casinos you did visit.
Trip report part 2....The search for good Video Poker
For me .. Palms is just uncomfortable... Too dark, too loud, and narrow isles, that give me a claustrophobic feel. although the VP paytables there are quite good.
We stayed at South Point last month and the bank of 8 9/6/90 JOB machines are still there by Benny%26#39;s statue.
We also stayed at Gold Coast and didn%26#39;t go to the Palms. It%26#39;s not one of our favorites either.
Thanks for the heads-up about the machines with the short pay for the Royal. I will keep my eye out for them. Where did you see these?
The short pay royal was at the Gold Coast at the front near the gift shop. It payed a normal 4000 at the dollar level however. This was the only place I have ever seen this paytable.
I neglected to mention that although I found no 10/7 double bonus there, there were a whole bank of 9/7/5 DB back by the poker room as well as at the bartop machines at the main bar. these do have a
%99 payback
