jetblue/mccarran airport delays

just got an email off jet blue with regards to the runway maintainence at mccarran international - how is it holding up at the minute....is it absolute maddness? How many runways do they have?? We%26#39;re flying into mccarran on 19th at 5pm-ish from burbank and flying out on the 23th to nyc abour 1030pm...

The main landing runway is closed until early summer. 5PM local is a busy time and you can expect a little backup. Some posts have seen a hour delay and the baggage area will be busy.

kirsty1704...McCarran should be fine for arriving on the 19th, as Wednesdays are typically quite slow here.

Flying out on the 23rd (Sunday), there could be delays. Last night, there were virtually no delays, as there was a light flight schedule for a Sunday.

The two Sundays previous, however, saw 1-3 hour delays due to traffic, weather and, of course, that closed runway.

it%26#39;s not absolute madness, some delays, all depends on the weather if more than what is expected over and above.

delays can and will happen.

will you change your plans based on the conditions this minute?

Not much anyone can do - relax and be prepared with water and a snack and entertainment in case of a delay - just like you should for all flights anywhere at all times.

Thanks for your comments - no it won%26#39;t make me change my plans but just wanted to be prepared.

I know each and every flight can be delayed - i%26#39;m not bothered with an hour or so but would be obviously if they were talking 3 or 4 !!

Delays happen all the time, for a variaty of reasons.. maddness?? not likely. good luck!

Last week. my flight (Seattle, Sunday) was delayed for an hour due to heavy winds in Vegas, flight home delayed for an hour due to bad weather in Philly (where plane was coming from)..but, no delays due to the runway...
