Hi, all...
I am planning a trip over easter and airfares are now $198 from Seattle. That seems pretty darned good. Should I book now or wait to see if something better comes along?
Also, I%26#39;m pretty sure I will get a comped room for that time, but since it%26#39;s over the holiday I%26#39;m not positive. Is easter typically a busy time? Would you all wait until the April offers come out or book now and work on hotel later? Can you tell I%26#39;m just a little excited?
Airfare - Book now or wait?
None of us would know what is deemed a good airfare from Seattle unless we lived there. Also, no one can predict what airlines might/might not do in regards to fares just as we have no idea what the price of oil might be at a later date. if you think tis is a good fare, then book it.
As for hotel, check the dates for when the Easter weekend is. If it happens to fall on the weekend of the NCAA Final Four, then yes Vegas will be busy. It also depends on the convention schedule in Vegas. Why not book a room now and do so directly with the hotel, they only require a one night deposit and that deposit is fully refundable up to 48 or 72 hrs before your arrival date. Then if you find you get a good offer, you can either cancel and then rebook or ask them to do a price adjustment to the new lower rate for you.
Check www.smartervegas.com starting about 3 months before your travel dates, that%26#39;s when promos/specials usually come out.
Airfare - Book now or wait?
If it is Southwest, definately book now. If their fare goes lower you can re-book at the lower rate and get the difference back as a credit for future us. If it is another airline, I%26#39;m not sure what to say. You still have five months and a lot can happen between now and then.
Thanks for the replies, guys. To the first poster, my question was really more along the lines of ';should I book that good airfare without having my hotel in order?'; more than ';Is this a good airfare from Seattle?';. Perhaps I could have phrased it a little better.
Michael, I am planning on booking Alaska Airlines and they will also do a credit if the airfare goes down (which I highly doubt). I guess I%26#39;m answering my own question and should just book now!
Thanks again for the responses!
Echo: I fly out of Seattle, and that fare of $198 is very good, in fact, that was the fare a few years ago, so I would say book it now...you won%26#39;t get any better, IMO...If it is Alaska, I would check to see if it is Horizon Air, which i would never take, as they fly the prop planes...
Edit to my last post: It%26#39;s just gone up about $20 bucks. It just goes to show that you shouldn%26#39;t hesitate if you see a price you like!
