Where to stay enroute to Grand Canyon from Las Vegas

Hi,

Any tips on where to stay for one night on the way to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas, just looking for a stop over enroute.

Thank you!

It%26#39;s about a 5 hour drive from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon (South Rim) and there really aren%26#39;t that many places to stop over en route.

The first place you%26#39;ll encounter is Kingman, which is about 2 hours from Vegas at the junction of Highway 93 and Interstate 40. If you choose to detour onto Route 66, you might stay in Peach Springs or Seligman. Williams is another option, which is about 1 hour South of Grand Canyon South Rim; at that point you might as well go the extra hour to the canyon.

Kingman has a couple dozen hotels/motels, Seligman and Peach Springs will have less to choose from as they are very small towns, and Williams has a couple dozen places to stay as well.

I agree do the trip in one and stay at a hotel in the Grand Canyon Village and wake up there much better option

Another vote for getting to GC as soon as possible as spending more time there. Nowhere en route comes close.

Straight to the canyon... if you really just wanted to stop over somewhere else to see something else on your trip... Laughlin may be an option... it%26#39;s about an hour away from Vegas, 4+ to the grand canyon

Hi All,

Thanks for your rapid replies! We arrive late evening that%26#39;s why we were just thinking of stopping somewhere on the way, we%26#39;re in the Canyon for 3 days so really looking forward to that. But if you had to choose somewhere that would be good for a walkabout the next day with a bit of character which one would you recommend?

Many thanks!

Not too much along the way that%26#39;s worth planning on %26#39;walking about%26#39;. Just get a place for the night if you%26#39;re tired, and then get to the GC as fast as you can the next day. Kingman is about a half way point. It will be about 2-3 hours to get there though from LV. If you still are awake and alert when you get to Kingman, drive on to Seligman or even Williams. At Williams you%26#39;re about an hour away from the GCNP. I%26#39;d stop there (if you can make it that far). Between Williams and the park, there%26#39;s nothing until you get to Tusayan, just outside of the park entrance, and I wouldn%26#39;t count on finding something there late at night without a reservation.

Stop in Kingman at the Wayfarer Inn and visit the Route 66 museum before heading to the canyon the next day.

We did it the other way round back in June. We were at the Canyon (South Rim) and had planned on staying in Seligman before our drive to LV. The guy who sold us our Canyon flight said that Kingman would be a better option. We took the man%26#39;s advice and although we drove 66 to Seligman, we stayed the night at a Motel 6 in Kingman (ridiculously cheap!!).

Having said that, we arrived in Kingman relatively early and if it wasn%26#39;t for the fact that we wanted to visit the Hoover Dam we would%26#39;ve carried straight on to Vegas.
