Is there anyone here who has been to Laughlin? If so, what were your favorite casinos, sites to see, and the best place for Lunch(we won%26#39;t be there for dinner)?????
I know that Laughlin is nothing like Vegas. But, this next trip, since we%26#39;ve never been, we plan on taking the tour bus over there. If you took the tour, which bus did you take and were you happy?
Any info at all will be appreciated. Thank you.
Laughlin?
We have stayed at Harrah%26#39;s and liked that. But it is at the very end. They have a very nice dinner buffet, but I don%26#39;t know about lunch. I think I would pick a casino that is closer to the middle, so you can walk to the other Casinos. The Golden Nugget is more centrally located.
Laughlin?
We%26#39;ve taken the drive down there several times, but we had a car. The casinos in Laughlin are kind of spread out, so it%26#39;s not an easy walk from one to another. It%26#39;s fun for a change from Las Vegas, they%26#39;ve got the river there. You didn%26#39;t say what time of the year you%26#39;ll be going, but it the weather%26#39;s nice, there%26#39;s a walk along the river from Golden Nugget... you can walk to another casino, and I don%26#39;t remember for sure, but I think it%26#39;s Harrah%26#39;s. They have a boat that goes between some of the casinos as well, but I don%26#39;t know if it runs all year.
Have a great time!
The first couple of times we went, we took a shuttle that was free (think Edgewater sponsored it), and it also included slot play and lunch. I think someone posted here one time that there was a charge now but think it isn%26#39;t too expensive.
We%26#39;ve been there probably 5 or 6 other times and drive from Vegas. We stayed at the Colorado Belle the first time probably almost 15 years ago.
We%26#39;ve stayed 3 times at what is now the Tropicana (used to be the Ramada)
Several times we%26#39;ve just gone for the day and returned to our hotel in Vegas so not spent the night there.
It is pretty tame compared to Vegas but think it%26#39;s worth the trip if you want to see something outside the Vegas area. There is a car display (like the one at IP in Vegas but on a much smaller scale) and think it%26#39;s at the Edgewater but may not be correct on the casino so hope someone else corrects me if I%26#39;m wrong on that detail.
Went on the Las Vegas Grand Canyon tour bus in June and it was $5 which included a lunch buffet at the Colorado Belle. The buffet was supposed to be at the Edgewater but it was temporarily closed. The buffet was not very good and was very basic but it was filling. Didn%26#39;t really venture off because it was very very hot and the hotels seemed further apart than I thought. You can take a water taxi which is pretty cool. The Colorado River was beautiful.
I would recommend this trip especially in cooler weather. I didn%26#39;t win anything there, but I never do anyway.
There is a Laughlin Forum that might be more helpful.
tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g45964-i292-Laughl…
It%26#39;s not as active as this forum, but some people over there might be able to give you some good hidden treasures and tips and tricks for trip. Have fun!
Yes, many times %26amp; our favorite casino there is Harrah%26#39;s, it%26#39;s the nicer one, their buffets was excellent as well as the Beach Café there. Yes they have a water taxi which is fun to take or you can walk along a walkway near the river, closer to walk on walkway then outside of the casino. It%26#39;s very pretty along the river %26amp; their is a beach area that you can relax at. The lst time we took a bus, don%26#39;t remember who cause it was 15 yrs ago, we usually rent a car, a fun drive, it%26#39;s about an hour away.
';The casinos in Laughlin are kind of spread out, so it%26#39;s not an easy walk from one to another.';
The above quote I would have to disagree with. Harrahs, and River Palms, are kind of down on there own, but the others are very close and easy to casino-hop.
The walk from Riverside, to Aquarius, to Edgewater, to Colorado Belle, to Pioneer, to Nugget is probably shorter than treking through just 1 big mega-resort like MGM. Tropicana Express is directly across the street from the Belle.
Lunch is a tough one, some of my favs there are only open for dinner. I think if I had one lunch only in Laughlin, I would go upstairs at the Colorado Belle, to the Mississippi Lounge seafood bar and get steamed clams and shrimp tempura. Have a cold micro-brew and enjoy the pretty river views. Also, Serrano at Riverside is really good Mexican if you don%26#39;t like seafood, I also like Boiler Room at the Belle but I think it%26#39;s dinner only. The lunch buffet at Harrahs is the only lunch buffet I would recommend.
I enjoy all the good VP in Laughlin, so we usually settle in at the VP bars in Edgewater or Belle, full-pay and river view. Trop express conductor bar also has full pay, and great bartenders. Harrahs has one of the nicest casinos there, you can take a river taxi down there from the main area with all the casinos clustered together. We never did the bus thing, sorry.
We usually fly to Vegas, do a few nights at Red Rock or Sunset, a few nights in Laughlin, and then finish with a few days on the strip.
Thank you for all your replies. We%26#39;ll be in Vegas mid-January and will spend one day in Laughlin. Any other ideas for lunch???? I really didn%26#39;t want a buffet, or a coffee shop and that seems to be the choices for lunch. The more interesting restaurants are open for dinner only and we%26#39;ll be leaving about 4 or so for the return trip to Vegas. And yes, I will post the question on the Laughlin forum as well. It%26#39;s just not very active compared to this one.
Thanks FrankyBarb-steamed clams and tempura shrimp. ummmm, that sounds good.
Hi
We have stayed in Laughlin a few times. I agree with the Lounge bar upstairs in the Belle, nice food and beer in there. The Golden Nugget has a good cafe, Harlows and the Pioneer does good breakfasts, not certain about lunch. All the hotels apart from Harrah%26#39;s are easy walking distance from each other, just take the water taxi up to Harrah%26#39;s.
